Cool Gear For The School Year, an original program of the Jason Taylor Foundation, each year provides a unique “back to school’ shopping experience for 60 underserved children from Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. Hosted by Old Navy at Tower Shops in Davie, the program provides each child with a $300 gift card and pairs him or her with a Miami Dolphins player, cheerleader or other local celebrity who assists with the selection of clothing during the one-hour shopping spree. In addition to hosting the event, Old Navy also graciously hosts a party for the kids prior to their shopping experience complete with food and drink, a DJ and even a special appearance by Miami Dolphins mascot “TD”. The program’s purpose is to help build self-esteem and eliminate an unnecessary distraction, allowing each child to focus on his or her studies and not their attire while at school.
Since launching the “Cool Gear for the School Year” program in 2005, the Jason Taylor Foundation has provided nearly $300,000 in clothing to more than 900 deserving young people!
The Jason Taylor Foundation is currently on a campaign to raise $18,000 in an effort to once again provide this unique experience to 60 of South Florida’s most needy and deserving kids. We greatly appreciate your consideration in supporting this program.
