On June 12th, 2016, in Orlando, Florida, a man walked into a gay nightclub, then shot and killed 49 people. \u201cThey Hate Us\u201d by @sweetthepoet<\/a><\/strong> was written as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting<\/a><\/strong>, which was the deadliest U.S. mass shooting at the time. She was incredibly affected and tremendously hurt when she heard the news.
