“They Hate Us”, an original poem written and performed by Sweetness, then a junior from Miami Norland Senior High School – From the 2017 Louder Than A Bomb Florida Indy Finals.
On June 12th, 2016, in Orlando, Florida, a man walked into a gay nightclub, then shot and killed 49 people. “They Hate Us” by @sweetthepoet was written as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting, which was the deadliest U.S. mass shooting at the time. She was incredibly affected and tremendously hurt when she heard the news. She says that maybe, if she’d been just a few years older, it could’ve been her in that club that night. #JournalingForJustice
