Jason Taylor Careers in Sports

About The Program

Where a student’s love of the game turns into a rewarding career in the sports business. The Jason Taylor Careers in Sports Network focuses on educating the future generation of leaders in the sports business by cultivating an environment that offers participation in various aspects of the sports business industry. The Network will give students hands-on experience within and around their high school athletics department, providing a Playbook of Best Practices students can follow to build a greater understanding of career opportunities in sports, and begin to develop a professional network and resumé, all while assisting their own school’s athletics department in promoting its student-athletes and athletics programs.

Our five careers in sports pillars include

Sports Broadcasting

Sports Marketing
Event Management

WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

The Jason Taylor Careers in Sports Network provides South Florida high school students with equitable access to resources and best practices in the sports industry, preparing them for future educational and career opportunities within the business of sports.

WHAT DO WE WANT TO ACHIEVE?

  1. We want to introduce young people to the different opportunities that exist in the sports industry.

  1. We want to provide high-level best practices and standards from experts in the industry coupled with hands-on experience and application within their own high school athletic departments.

  2. We want to ensure that this programming is accessible to all high school students regardless of race, gender, economic status, etc.

  3. We want to strengthen the quality of the overall operation of each high school’s athletic department. This will be achieved by developing a Careers in Sports Club on campus that specifically identifies and trains interested students who will serve as a volunteer workforce for the athletic department.

  4. We want to develop a diverse population of young people who will ultimately and continuously have a positive impact on the sports industry (collegiate and professional).

Key elements of our programming include:

Podcasting

Each of our Careers in Sports member schools receive podcasting equipment as well as supporting texts and collateral materials. Additionally, thanks to a partnership with RedCircle, we can host unlimited podcasts for our schools at no cost.

Virtual Speaker Series

Twice a month during the school year, the Careers in Sports Network invites top-end industry professionals engage in a virtual conversation with program leadership and students across our network. Students have the opportunity to ask questions about careers they hope to pursue and how others achieved those goals.

Sports Statistics Courses

Through a partnership with the Broward Education Foundation, students will have the opportunity to participate in FREE intensive sports statisticians’ courses and then apply the skills as official statisticants for events like the Kreul Basketball Classic and Broward Football Showcase.

Annual Conference

Each year, all students participating in our programming are invited to an annual conference where they learn from industry leaders, participate in interactive workshops, and network with their peers from other schools. In 2026, the conference was hosted by St. Thomas University’s Sports Administration program.

Summer Institute

Each year, a students can apply to participate in the Jason Taylor Foundation’s FREE, week-long summer institute. Students visit athletic associations for multiple local universities (including University of Miami, NSU, Barry, St. Thomas University, and FAU), and also visit with sports related teams and businesses including WQAM, the Florida Panthers, etc.

Event Support

Students from our network volunteer at our annual events including the Community Hall of Fame Dinner, Whiffle Blast, and Cool Gear for the School Year, gaining valuable experience in both broadcasting and event management. Students interview guests on the red carpet, cover the event, interview guests and participants, and help in all areas of the event’s operation.
