For Thee I Sing: An educators’ workshop designed to promote the importance of validating and centering the voices and perspectives of a diverse student body in and out of the classroom.

 

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Darius V. Daughtry is an accomplished writer, director, educator and creative consultant who truly believes in the transformative power of arts. Darius has been commissioned to write, perform, and conduct workshops for various organizations: The University of Florida, The U.S. Naval Academy, the Poetry Foundation, the Adrienne Arsht Center, Broward Center of Performing Arts, City of Fort Lauderdale, Miami-Dade Schools, Broward Schools, Dranoff International and more.  He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Art Prevails Project, a performing arts organization dedicated to cultivating community through the power of storytelling, arts education and community engagement. Mr. Daughtry has written, directed and produced a series of successful theatrical productions, and his collection of poetry, And the Walls Came Tumbling, is an introspective poetic memoir and cultural eulogy critique.  He’s currently working on his second book and numerous other creative projects.

 

ABOUT THE SERIES

The bluapple Poetry Network’s Educator’s Studio is a free series of workshops and discussions dedicated to providing teachers of writing and the arts with resources, concepts, and lesson plans that can be utilized in their classrooms, after school clubs, and other projects that inspire youth through poetry. Guest facilitators from Florida and across the country will guide participants through the monthly series.
